My first memory with baby wipes:
When I was young and unmarried, I never liked using wipes on my face. I thought it’s a waste of money and not effective enough. But as soon as I touched my baby’s bums, it became one of the most loved and much-needed product in my diaper bag. As a first-time mum, I could not think of a single day without baby wipes. I first tried my hands on a baby wipe when my first daughter was born.
It’s when my daughter pooped and I had to clean it for the first time. The nurse suggested that I use wet cotton to clean it. So, I applied wet cotton on her dirty private parts. I was afraid of cleaning it as her skin was too soft; her skin started coming out even after a gentle rub. Somehow I managed to clean her and later I was given baby wipes of a popular baby brand. I used those for quite some time and then later, as I matured on my parenting journey, I tried and tested many popular and new brands. From their sensitive body parts to their hands and mouth, I used these wipes for everything. It’s just something, a new mum cannot survive without!
Things which you should check before buying baby wipes:
It should be Hypoallergenic.
The wipes should be Dermatologically tested.
It should be Parabens, Soap, and Fragrance-free.
Its pH level should be around 5.5 for baby’s soft skin.
It should be thick enough so that your hands remain poop free.
Convenient and safe packaging so that wipes remain wet for a longer time.
The fabric should be thick enough.
A baby wipe is a savior
From cleaning your baby’s bum to baby’s toys, you can use baby wipes for various purposes. It makes one of the diaper bag essentials, especially for a new mum. They are also available on popular e-comm stores like Amazon, Nykaa, and Hopscotch.
Since this is the first choice on my list, so you may guess — of all the options available, I would give preference to these wipes only! These are the best baby wipes for sensitive skin.
2. Pampers Baby Wipes Sensitive
Pampers is a leader in the diapers market and I am a big fan of their premium baby diapers. And diapers and wipes go hand in hand. Pampers-sensitive wipes give the best gentle clean and are the no.1 choice in hospitals. They are perfume-free and hence, make trusted baby wipes for sensitive skin. This is one of the baby brands which I liked the most, for its quality products.
3. Babyganics Face, Hands, and Body Wipes
Babyganics is a US-based brand and it was founded by two fathers. The idea was to create safe products for babies. Their fragrance-free wipes have plant-based ingredients and are extra gentle for a baby’s soft skin. They are non-allergenic and Pediatrician and Dermatologist tested. They are free from alcohol, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, artificial dyes. The best part about this brand is they are always experimenting with new ingredients to bring something better for its consumers.
4. Huggies Natural Care Wipes
The second diapering brand which I have used the most after Pampers is Huggies. So, it was obvious for me to try their wipes too. They are fragrance-free and hence, suitable for the sensitive skin of babies. And you can never go wrong with Huggies. They are known for their comfort.
5. Himalaya Herbal Gentle Baby Wipes
They are mild and infused with the goodness of aloe vera and lotus extracts. Himalaya is a go-to brand for every Indian. It also contains the goodness of olive oil and almond oil (Vitamin E), which help in nourishing and softening the skin. I would say these wipes gently clean the skin with the power of herbs.
Final words
As a first-time mum, it’s natural to get overwhelmed with the plethora of options available in the market. And baby wipes prices in India vary from low to high. Though doctors and experts and even some brands suggest always use wet cotton for cleaning your newborn. It’s always suggested to go by expert’s advice and it’s wiser and easier to go by other mum’s experience when it comes to trying products for your baby. Because mums choose the best products for their little munchkins. Hope it will help you in choosing the right wipes for your little one!
